The Atom Packs Team at the summit of Haystacks

Full Time Sewing Machinist required at Atom Packs Limited.

Are you a skilled sewing machinist with a passion for craftsmanship and precision? At Atom Packs Limited, one of the fastest growing cottage backpack brands in Europe, we are looking to expand our talented team. Will you bring your sewing expertise and enthusiasm to the table?

Who are we?

Atom Packs was started in 2018, by a tall man with a dream – a dream to hike in comfort with lightweight reliable kit that fit him properly. Our gear is now used by hikers tackling some of the world’s toughest and longest trails, as well as weekend warriors seeking escape into their local countryside and beyond.

What we are looking for:

  • Industrial sewing machine experience will be considered an advantage, but at the very least experience using domestic sewing machines is essential.
  • The ideal candidate will have the ability to follow simple patterns and instructions and execute their work with a keen eye for detail and quality.
  • A team player. While you will have the skills to both work under instruction and independently, our entire team is a dedicated and friendly group that often work for each other as much as the company. Any individual that can follow instructions and contribute positively to the dynamics of this fast growing company will be considered an asset.

Whether you are fully trained with lots of experience or someone that has been making their own clothes at home on a domestic sewing machine or have taken a relevant course at college, we welcome you to apply.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary: Your skills are valued and we will pay you accordingly, with clear salary progression where improving skills are demonstrated. Full time positions start at £24-28K depending on experience.
  • A positive work environment: Our workshop is located on a beautiful farm near Keswick, where your hard work is appreciated and your growth is supported - we are a community of 14 individuals, where skills and collaboration are nurtured.
  • There are two well behaved workshop dogs, available at most times for scritch-scratches and ear rumples.
  • On-site parking, for bicycles and cars.
  • 28 days holiday (inc bank holidays)
  • Cycle to Work scheme and Employee discount (once you have completed probationary period)

Our working week is Monday - Friday 0830-1700 with a 30 minute unpaid break for lunch.
