Every model of Atom Packs backpack will come with a sternum strap. The sternum strap connects to the backpack by attaching onto the shoulder strap daisy chain - this is located under your shoulder pocket, where fitted.
The height of the sternum strap can be changed by sliding the adjuster on the daisy chain up or down. If you need more adjustment, then you may need to remove the sternum strap and re-attach it to the next section of the daisy chain.
Watch the video below to see how to connect it:
- Whether you like yours high or low, getting a comfortable fit is important. Take the time to try out a few different heights, and familiarise yourself with removal and refitting.
- The strap is designed to offer some support and prevent the shoulder straps from working their way outwards as you hike. The elastic means you have a small amount of flex in this strap to allow your chest to expand and contract as you breathe.
- The strap buckle incorporates a whistle, we fit them with the whistle pointing downwards so it doesn’t fill with rain or dust, but if you’d rather move it to the other side, then feel free to do this.
