Features

Packing Space

Main Pack body
The main body of the pack is completely open, yours to fill as you wish. It is secured with a roll top closure that can be secured vertically for added compression or dry bag style.

Large front pocket
The front pocket can be sewn in either Dyneema Stretch material or Bullet Net, both offer capacious storage. The Dyneema Stretch is better for a cleaner aesthetic and off trail bushwacks (doesn't snag easily) and the Bullet net is better for packing wet gear and improved visibility of items but can snag when bushwacking. The bullet net option will increase the measurable volume of your bag by 5L.

Side pockets
Each pocket can hold 2.5L and are perfectly shaped to carry 2 x 1L smart water style bottles with ease. You can use the elastic drawcord to secure these items whilst walking and, should the elastic ever break or wear out, we have designed it to be easily replaceable.

Load Carrying

S-shaped shoulder straps
Sewn using 10mm foam, durable 210d Robic Extreema face fabric and breathable, soft 3mm spacer mesh

Padded back panel
Uses shaped 8mm closed cell foam. Can be removed when the pack is empty for a 25g weight reduction.

Removable contoured hipbelt
Comes with 4 adjusters that tighten by pulling inwards allowing you to dial in the perfect fit. Can be removed.

Lumbar pad
Made with 10mm EVA foam and 3mm thick spacer mesh.

Sternum strap
Elasticated and height adjustable.

Plastic Frame with removable Alloy stay
Removable frame sheet made of 1mm thick plastic with a sewn-in 12mm / 0.5" alloy bar. The plastic for a medium frame weighs 91g / 3oz, with the alloy weighing 58g / 2oz.

Add More

Shoulder pockets (options)
Super stretchy and big enough to hold most smartphones, a day’s worth of snacks or a 700ml water bottle. The elastic is fixed and, owing to its clever design, does not need a tensioner.

Front zig-zag elastic (optional)
Removable and designed to be able to store a folded Z-rest or assist with air drying your clothes.

Side elastic with Lineloc (optional)
These are there to secure a trekking pole or tent poles when stored in the side pocket..

Ice Axe loop

Prospector 50; review

What a pack. Expensive? At first appearance when compared to off-the-shelf packs it might appear to be. Appearance can be deceptive as we all know and this is certainly the case here. This pack represents the pinnacle of packs in my opinion and is 100% worth the investment when considering the merits. This pack has my winter kit for a couple of nights in the mountains & weighs circa 12kg including food, water and cooking fuel - including the dogs food and he eats more than I do. The impossible to understand matter is wearing it in comfort. When my previous pack (one of the most common brands named after a bird) was on my shoulders you certainly knew you were wearing it. With that pack I would have to cinch the hip belt tight to the point of discomfort yet on the AtomPack the hip belt is not tight yet seems to support the load like magic but even weirder is that I really don't notice or feel this wight and its certainly not my shoulders carrying the weight. I find I am able to hike so much more comfortably and no longer am concerned as much with steep slopes. Now the functionality; The pack has one main compartment and I elected for the bullet net front pocket so I can see what's inside and for breathability so wet items can dry - and boy oh boy, does it ever work. I keep my waterproofs in here as well as my drying cloth's (mine and the dogs) as well as a few smaller items within a separate waterproof bag that I want quick access too. On the very top of the pack, I use the 'Y' strap to keep two 3mm thinny mats secure - my sit mat and one for the dog. The two side pockets are perfect for my four water containers. One holds my Ti Grayl water purifier (NOT a filter, its much more) and a 500ml Nalgene and the other pocket has a 1 litre silicone hydra pack bottle with over the shoulder straw plus a a second 500ml Nalgene. All bottles are secured using the pocket draw string. The bottom sleeve pocket of the pack is used purely for my cat hole digger (I use an MSR blizzard peg) wrapped in a soft cloth to prevent chafe as well as for rubbish - the finger hole is such a brilliant detail. Everything else goes in the main compartment. I do have shoulder pockets and use these for snacks and my compass. I do have hip belt pockets but do not use them as I have a bum bag in which I keep reading glasses and sun glasses (sun - can't remember what that is in UK) and my first aid kit. Although I do use a Nylofume liner, my pack has never leaked a single drop - a testimony to the attention to detail and quality manufacturing. Would I invest in another pack should something happen to this one? Well, this is my fifth pack Ive bought from Toms company and that speaks of my experience - I would repeat buy without hesitation. By far and away the best piece of kit I've bought for the great outdoors. Im very happy to recommend this product without any caveats.

New Prospector

Love my new Prospector! The colours I picked are perfect. I got the Prospector for my PCT thru hike in 2025 and recently tried it out on the North Wales Pilgrims Way, a 7 day 140 mile hike. I got two shoulder pockets, one hip belt pocket and the Y strap as extras, plus the netting front pocket. The rucksack was way more comfortable than any previous rucksacks I’ve owned and worked really well. Just little things made it easy to use, like the pocket at the bottom to put wrappers etc, the shoulder pockets, the Y strap. It’s also so light that after a while I didn’t notice the weight on my back. I loved the fact there aren’t lots of pockets to lose things in and having just one space makes organising so much easier.

The only thing I would change is the buckle for the chest strap. As it’s attached to the strap it can be fiddly to do up, especially if there is something in the strap pocket next to it. Other than that, I’m so pleased with my new rucksack!

Really excellent pack

I bought this pack for my PCT thru-hike. I got a 40L with two hip belt pockets, a Y strap, a shoulder pocket, elastic on the sides and front, and the bullet net. It really is the perfect backpack. I love everything about it. It’s extremely durable and is still going strong after my hike. The material is much more water resistant than I anticipated. The bullet net allows you to store a ridiculous amount, and the elastic over it allowed for even more storage and kept everything in place. The load lifters are incredibly effective — maybe my favorite thing about the pack. You can really, really adjust where the weight sits. And I LOVED the simplicity. It doesn’t have any bells or whistles that will get in your way. It has everything you need, and only what you need. As a lifelong Osprey girl, I was very nervous about this, but I absolutely loved the simplicity and ease of use. I only had two issues with it on my entire hike; here they are: I found the water bladder section to be very difficult to use. Honestly, it was so hard that I still think that I was using it wrong. But I ended up just switching to keeping my water bladders in the water bottle side pockets and threading the tubes under the load lifter straps, which worked super well. No complaints there! And the top buckle on the Y strap broke. This is an issue that other people I met had as well. BUT! Tom was incredibly helpful in dealing with this issue. When I sent my support request, a team member responded within an hour or two. Tom responded shortly after that with a personal apology and specific ideas to resolve the issue until I could get a replacement buckle in the mail. They then sent a couple replacement buckles, which arrived very quickly at the next trail town. That experience only reinforced my trust in Atom Packs. Seriously, get this pack. I didn’t meet one person on trail who regretted their Atom Pack, but I did meet lots of folks who said they wished they had one.

Great pack

My family bought me the 60l custom Mo for my 50th birthday, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the level of comfort. I used it for the West Highland Way last month and it did the job perfectly. It took a day or two to get used to the back sitting against me as all my other packs sit an inch or two off my back (ventilation) and a little playing around with the internal frame to get it dialled in, but once I got it right it was great. Even the man with the sore feet in Fort William tried to steal it.
