@tyler_yezman

I’m Tyler, based in the Pacific Northwest. I spend my free time backpacking, running, and mountaineering, and I’m drawn to experiences that push me outside my comfort zone. I focus on sharing honest trail experiences, including the parts that aren’t always easy or polished.
What's your favourite trail?
I have two. The John Muir Trail was my first thru-hike and set me on the path I’m on today. The Pacific Crest Trail came later and taught me a lot about patience, presence, and discomfort, and reinforced why I value sharing the slower, less polished reality of life on trail.

Which Atom Pack do you have? Why?
I use the Prospector. I first learned about Atom Packs on the PCT, where a few people in my trail family couldn’t stop talking about theirs. After seeing how well they held up over 2,600 miles, I knew I needed one. I also got a custom Atom 35L on the way to round out my quiver for fast and light objectives.
What's your best packing tip?
It took me a decade to accept that this is worth the weight, but bringing something to lie or sit on during a break is a game-changer. I use a thin lay pad (separate from my inflatable sleeping pad) for mid-day naps and lunch, and it's now my favourite piece of gear.

What are you plans for 2026?
Spending more time in the PNW, including another lap around the Wonderland Trail, along with other local backpacking, climbing, and a few ultra marathons.
What's one piece of advice you'd give anyone planning an adventure?
Don’t get too caught up in logistics. Planning matters, especially for safety, but it’s easy to overdo it. Once the basics are covered, trusting that things will work out helps you stay present and enjoy the experience.
