Description

The Nanu is our go-everywhere day bag, as at home on the commute to work as it is in the mountains.

The pack has a stiff sewn-in foam back panel that gives great support and shape to the pack at any volume. This means that whether you are just taking your computer and some lunch or you're headed to the beach and have stuffed the bag to bursting, it still carries well (and we think it looks rather good too!)

Whilst weight wasn't our priority when designing this sack, it's still pretty lightweight at around 570g / 20.1 oz

Brilliant Pockets

Mark on Aug 22, 2022

This has been everywhere with me since I bought it. Town, trails and hills - comfortable and functional for all of them. I love the dyneema stretch pockets which are deep enough for anything you wish to place there and do not lose their shape at the top - this is such a problem with many backpack pockets but not on this one. I have used it for day hikes and rides (nothing too demanding) and also family holidays. It has carried heavier weights well. Cannot think of a complaint so far. Very pleased with it!

Great pack! Nanu X25 in mountain brown

I'll be taking this pack on a two-week trip to England (Midlands and South East) in the summer. It's just barely holds everything I need without stuffing. Have taken it on one winter weekend trip and was great for that as well. Small and light enough that I can empty it out and use it as a day bag when I get where I'm going.

Excellent bag ... but some slight room to refine.

Love the bag. If you are reading this, you should buy it!

Great materials and very well made. I've had a few gear-head friends stop me to have a look and all have been impressed with the bag and the features. Me too. But I do think there are some improvements that could be made in version 2.0.

For reference, this is the 3rd Atom Pack I own + a Roo thing my wife uses daily as a cross-body bag. We love Atom Packs and are 99% thrilled with everything we own.

So the Nanu: First thing - I think the laptop sleeve needs to be deeper in the bag. I understand the thinking of making it ride high in the bag, preventing the laptop from hitting the floor setting the bag down, but it's too high in my opinion and makes the bag impossible to sit upright anywhere without toppling over or sliding down to the floor. It's very top heavy with a laptop (16" Macbook Pro M4) inside. The sleeve itself is well designed but the foam is thinner than other in-bag laptop sleeves I have access too. Wonder if a slightly denser foam, lower in the bag would be an improvement.

Second thing: I also wish the bag were like 15% bigger in the main compartment. It errs on the side of narrow in the width. I use the bag for a laptop, notebook, over-ear headphones and occasionally a 35mm camera in the bottom of the bag with a make-shift form insert. This all but fills the main compartment. It it were slightly bigger, I think I could also use it for multi-day travel as a carryon bag.

I can see the Nanu as a system more than a single bag offering. Maybe a larger central compartment with no inside features but the optional add-on of a snap-in laptop sleeve or padded pod-like compartment for things like cameras or headphones. Lower the base time / price to manufacture the Nanu (I imagine that laptop sleeve is a huge time-suck to make) and then offer it as a premium add-on with a few other optional accessories. Pump them out slightly faster and meet the demand which appears sky high. It's odd, but the Nanu may get more use from your customers than anything else. I use it daily. It gets tossed around in much harder environments than the woods. My Moo has seen 350 trail miles. But I imagine I'll clock a lot more town miles on the Nanu. So I hope you guys are thinking about it as a core offering and potentially an expanded system in the future.

Other than those personal observations, It is a top tier bag. Today in Kentucky it is pouring rain and I had all the confidence in the world this bag would protect my gear.

One other thing for the future user ... don't roll first and then top buckle second like you might a larger backpacking pack. I get great results buckling it first and then rolling it down second and hooking the latch to close the bag. It may have even been designed to function that way.

Nanu X25 in Olive

I was online by 9am the day the pack went on sale, as I knew they would sell out quickly, got mine in Olive and delivery was quick.
My pack is for my Lake District fell walks mainly and general rambling around.
Capacity seems bigger than 25L coupled with the plentiful outer stretch pockets make it very versatile, love the harness pocket for a half litre water
Bottle, two stretch side pockets and an outer stretch pocket for waterproofs etc.
The zipped pocket is great for quick access to snacks with plenty of room for keys, wallet and other things, also the almost hidden stash pocket on the pack underside, I keep a bin bag in there to pick up the sometimes inevitable litter some people seem to leave in beautiful places !

I recommend this versatile and very comfortable pack.

Photos are from Ross’s Camp and a WW2 Pill box, both in the Lake District

Finally got one, great pack!

I’ve been hoping to get a Nanu for what seems like ages and managed to visit the webpage right on the day of release and bought one in black.

The good:

Fantastically well made, I have two of their atom bags and the quality is first rate as expected; this pack could easily last a lifetime!

Supremely comfortable, really functional, lots of storage on the stretch front panel (I love this pocket) and the side pockets easily fit a 1 litre bottle.

The zipped pocket on the rear panel is brilliant for items you need to get quickly, I use it for phone, wallet, keys etc. It’s really functional and would be a good edition to the atom line too!

The internal pocket is a good size, laptop compartment easily fits a 14 inch laptop in a thick padded case plus an iPad, the extra storage area on the front is also handy for cables. I can fit two large packing cubes, a wash bag, spare jacket etc easily.

The fabric choices are interesting, I really like the main body fabric, it is a touch stiff initially, especially with the lining. It looks really good, its robust and feels nice to the touch.

The only thing to note is the back panel is made from a nylon which really loves to attract lint, dust, pet hair etc. If this bothers you, you might find you will be cleaning it off fairly frequently. It wouldn’t detract me from buying the same pack again!

I’m really looking forward to absolutely thrashing this pack over the next few years as my daily pack, travel pack, overnight pack and do it all pack, I’m absolutely sure it will hold up well.

The team at Atompacks did a great job yet again!

Perfect

Nice design which makes use of the small size. I carry from not much up to about 6kg and it is really comfortable. I think 2kgs is about minimum, it needs it to make it settle as the material is quite stiff.
The side pockets are good but a little deeper might be good, though I have never had a problem. Wish I had it twenty years ago.
